Storm Damage Roof Repair in Knoxville, TN
Hail, Wind & Fallen-Tree Damage Inspected, Documented and Repaired
Storm Damage Roof Repair for Knoxville Homes
East Tennessee storms can move through fast. Spring and summer thunderstorms bring hail and straight-line winds, and heavy limbs from mature trees come down on roofs across Knoxville. Some damage is obvious, like missing shingles in the yard. A lot of it is not visible from the ground at all.
McGuire Roofing inspects storm-damaged roofs for free, documents what we find with photos, makes temporary repairs when your roof is open to the weather and handles the permanent repair or replacement. Our phones are answered 24/7 at (865) 338-7663, and everything is coordinated through our main office at 623 Simmons Road, Suite 1, in West Knoxville.
If a tree is on your roof or water is coming in right now, see our emergency roof tarping and storm-fallen tree services and call us right away.
Types of Storm Damage We Repair
Hail damage
Hail can bruise or crack shingles and knock loose the protective granules, which exposes the asphalt underneath to sun and water. It can also dent gutters, downspouts, vents and metal flashing. Hail damage is often hard to spot from the ground, so a close inspection matters. Our article on blistered shingles vs. hail damage explains some of the differences.
Wind damage
Strong gusts can lift shingles, break their seal strips, crease them or tear them off entirely. Ridge caps, roof edges and flashing are especially vulnerable. Once shingles are lifted, wind-driven rain can get underneath. Read how to tell if a windstorm has left your roof in bad shape.
Fallen trees and limbs
Limbs can puncture shingles and decking, crush gutters and damage the roof framing. When a tree or large limb is on the roof, we can coordinate removal and tarp the opening to help prevent further water damage.
Leaks after a storm
New ceiling stains, drips in the attic or wet insulation after a storm are signs that water has found a way in. Damaged flashing around chimneys, skylights and walls is a common source.
What to Do After a Storm
- Stay safe. Stay off the roof and away from downed power lines. Look for damage from the ground and inside the attic if it is safe to do so.
- Take photos. Photograph any shingles, debris or limbs in the yard, dented gutters and interior water stains.
- Limit further damage. Move belongings away from leaks and catch dripping water. Call us if the roof needs to be tarped.
- Schedule a free inspection. We will check the roof up close and document what we find.
- Talk with your insurance company if the inspection shows damage worth claiming.

Our Storm Damage Repair Process
Free storm damage inspection
We inspect shingles, ridge caps, flashing, vents, pipe boots and gutters, and check the attic when it is accessible. We tell you honestly whether we see storm damage, normal wear or both.
Photo documentation
We photograph the damage so you can see it for yourself and have clear documentation if you file an insurance claim.
Temporary protection when needed
If the roof is open or actively leaking, we can tarp it to help protect your home until permanent repairs can be made.
Repair or replacement
Limited damage can often be repaired by replacing shingles, flashing or vents. When damage is widespread, a full roof replacement may make more sense. As a GAF Master Elite contractor, we install complete GAF roof systems, and we can also work with CertainTeed, Owens Corning, Atlas, Tamko and IKO shingles to match or replace what is on your home.

Storm Damage Roof Repair FAQ
How do I know if my roof has storm damage?
Look for shingles or pieces of shingle in the yard, dented gutters or vents, granules collecting at downspouts, and new leaks or ceiling stains. Many types of hail and wind damage cannot be seen from the ground, so a free close-up inspection is the best way to know.
Is the storm damage inspection really free?
Yes. We inspect your roof at no cost, take photos of what we find and tell you honestly whether we see storm damage.
Will you meet with my insurance adjuster?
Yes. We can meet your adjuster on the roof and point out the damage we documented. If your claim runs into trouble, we can connect you with public adjusters and insurance attorneys in our network.
Do you pay or waive my insurance deductible?
No. You are responsible for your deductible, and McGuire Roofing does not cover, pay or waive deductibles.
Can you tarp my roof right away?
If your roof is open or leaking, call (865) 338-7663. Our phones are answered 24/7, and we offer emergency roof tarping to help protect your home until permanent repairs are made.
Should I repair or replace a storm-damaged roof?
It depends on how widespread the damage is and the overall condition of the roof. Isolated damage can often be repaired. Widespread hail or wind damage may call for a full replacement. We will explain the options after inspecting your roof.
