Roofing Contractor in Norris, TN
Roofing for Historic Cottages and Wooded Homes in the TVA-Built Town
Serving Norris Homes from Our Knoxville Office
Norris was built by the Tennessee Valley Authority in the 1930s as a planned town for the workers building Norris Dam. Many of the original cottages still stand, tucked among winding streets and a greenbelt of woods, alongside newer homes added over the decades.
Small historic homes need a light touch. We serve Norris from our Knoxville office and focus on protecting the character of each house while giving it a roof that keeps water out.
Common Roof Problems in Norris
Small, older cottages
Original homes often have low attics, little ventilation and decking that has been patched over the years.
Thick tree canopy
The greenbelt and wooded lots mean leaves, needles and falling limbs. Gutters and valleys clog quickly.
Moss and algae
Shade keeps roofs damp, and moss can lift shingle edges if it is left to grow.
Chimney and vent flashing
Older chimneys and vent stacks are frequent leak points on Norris homes.
How We Roof Historic Norris Homes
The original TVA cottages are small, but their roofs still need careful work. We start with a full inspection and photos, then explain what can be repaired and what needs replacement.
When a new roof is needed, we tear off to the deck, replace damaged boards, add ice and water protection at valleys and eaves, and install new flashing at chimneys and vents. We help you pick a color and shingle profile that suits the cottage and the street.
Because Norris is so wooded, we often recommend gutter guards and a regular maintenance visit each fall to keep leaves out of valleys and gutters.
Newer homes in town get the same care, with ventilation checked and corrected during every replacement.
We know many Norris residents care about keeping the town’s original character. We are glad to talk through options that respect the look of a cottage while still giving it a modern, watertight roof system underneath.
